Our Mission

Friends of McPherson is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exists to help support our school, students, and teachers, and to build community relationships. Through fundraising activities, including special events, donations, and grant requests, FOM strives to support James B. McPherson Elementary’s academic and extracurricular programs.

  • Friends of McPherson works hand-in-hand with McPherson’s Local School Council (LSC), Community Service and Engagement Council (CESC), and Bilingual Advisory Committee to support McPherson students, families, teachers, staff and community members.

  • Here are just a few ways that funds raised by Friends of McPherson have been used to support our school:

    • Supporting classroom needs, such as technology upgrades

    • Providing teachers and staff with funds for supplies and resources

    • Covering costs for McPherson’s robust field trip program

    • Paying for the rights for the annual school musical or play and related A/V, costume, and prop needs

    • The Energizabulls Fitness Center

    • Supplies for the school art studio

    • Common Threads Nutritious Cooking Program

    • We help fund events for teacher and staff appreciation

    • We make purchases for technology needs and upgrades

    • We provide financial support for enhanced teacher curriculum
